Day 4 – Biking The Greenbrier River Trail
Today’s Blog Entry
On Thursday Cindy and I decided to head a bit west from our campground to bike a section of the Greenbrier River Trail, a 77 mile long rail line conversion starting in North Caldwell WV and ending near Cass WV. This trail runs through some very scenic (and very remote) country!
We started our ride just above the southern terminus in North Caldwell. This relatively level stretch of the trail took us to the tiny hamlet of Anthony and then back again for a total of 23 miles along the river.
The weather was beautiful, mostly sunny and in the low 70’s. This was in sharp contrast to the long range forecast that had called for storms on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday – fortunately for us none of those storms materialized.
After our ride we drove south into the Greenbrier State Forest and enjoyed our lunch in one of their picnic areas before heading back into Virginia.
