Day 13 – The Top Of Innsbruck

Jan 24, 2020

Today’s Blog Entry

Cindy and I traveled from Dobbiaco to Innsbruck by bus and train earlier today. When we arrived in Innsbruck we checked into our Airbnb and immediately headed out for the Hafelekar, a nearby mountain peak also known (for good reason) as ‘The Top Of Innsbruck’.

The peak of the Hafelekar is accessible via a series of three cable cars that starts at street level in the city and ends at an observation area that’s 5,700 feet above the valley floor. To say that there’s a commanding view of Innsbruck and the surrounding mountains is an understatement.

After checking out the spectacular vista we descended to Seegrube, the next station down, where there was the perfect place to enjoy (you guessed it) “Two Beers with a View”.

The Weather

High 35 F, Low 28 F
It started out sunny in Dobbiaco and it stayed that way all day, but there was a hazy inversion in Innsbruck – shades of Salt Lake City!
