Day 1 – Armstrong Valley Winery
Today’s Blog Entry
After a hectic morning with lots of last minute preparation Cindy and I hit the road around 11:00 AM for part 1 of our drive to the Finger Lakes region of New York.
Even though we could have made the entire 7+ hour drive to the Finger Lakes in a single day, we’ve found that it’s more comfortable (and safer) to limit our daily travel to around four hours when there’s a large silver object following closely behind the truck.
Our first night’s stop was Armstrong Valley Winery near Halifax, PA. This Harvest Host participant offers that rarest of things – free overnight parking with 50 Amp power! So in exchange for our honor-system purchase of two bottles of wine, a couple of cold drafts, and a T-shirt we got to spend a lovely evening parked in the middle of nowhere in a lovely vineyard (with the A/C running, no less).
It was a great way to start this new adventure!
