Day 1 – Arrival At Ohiopyle
Today’s Blog Entry
Cindy are on the road again, this time to explore the Laurel Highlands of southwestern Pennsylvania. We’ll be operating from our base camp in Ohiopyle State Park for a week before moving on to stopovers at a trio of Harvest Host locations.
The Harvest Hosts are small businesses that allow one or two RV’s to stay overnight on their property (usually rural and scenic) in exchange for buying some of their product and hopefully creating a little social media buzz. We’ll be staying at a winery in PA, a brewery in MD, and a farm in VA that makes their own sausages, pretzels, and beer – you can see where that’s going, eh?
In addition to hiking and flyfishing the highlights of this adventure will include tours of Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater and Kentuck Knob homes, biking a segment of the Great Allegheny Passage rail trail, and a quick trip into Pittsburgh to have dinner with my favorite high school teacher and his wife.
